William A. "Bill" Vevera, 61 of 1229 Shannon Drive, Iowa City died at his home Thursday, January 17, 2008.

Services will be held at 7 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial with military honors will take place on Thursday at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.

William Allen Vevera was born January 24, 1946, in Iowa City the son of Melvin and Anna (Mousley) Vevera. Following graduation from Iowa City High School, he attended business college. During the Vietnam War he served his country in the United States Army. Bill married Nellie M. Graham on June 5, 1971 in Pauline, IA. For a number of years he worked as a grounds keeper for the UI.

His family includes two children and their spouses, Elizabeth O'Harra (Patrick) of Dayton, WY; and Wesley Vevera (Adrienne) of Iowa City; one grandson, Liam James O'Harra; brother, Melvin Vevera and his wife, Patricia of Ormond Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, and Bill's former wife, Nellie of Iowa City.
