LINDA SORENSEN PELTON  Aug 23, 1947 – March 29, 1972

Linda Pelton, 24, a former Iowa City resident, died Wednesday in Kalamazoo, Michigan, following a long illness.

Services are planned for 3 p.m. Friday at the Langeland Portage Chapel in Portage, Mich.  Burial will be in Michigan.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Pelton was born Aug 23, 1947 at Minneapolis, Minn, to Robert K. and Jean Nelson Sorensen.  Her father was the principal of Iowa City High School and Director of Secondary Education in the Iowa City School District before moving to Michigan.

Linda was a 1965 graduate of Iowa City High School and the University of Iowa, where she affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority.  She taught at Wheaton, IL during the 1969-70 academic year, right after she graduated from UI. She was then employed as a teacher at Longfellow Elementary School here and was married to John T. Pelton.

Survivors include her husband; her parents of Portage, Michigan; a sister, Mrs. Stephen (Judy) Schultz of Waterloo, and a brother Robert of Portage.
