KAREN ALBRIGHT PAGELS April 30, 1947 - Oct 7, 2005
1975: (Mrs. Dennis Pagels), 435 - 1st Ave. S., Iowa City, IA. Karen is currently a computer scheduling secretary. She and her husband, Dennis, a bio-medical electronics technician, have one child, Deena Kay, age 7.
1985: Karen and her husband Denny have two children, Deena (16) and T.J. (7). Karen is interested in quilting and needlework in her spare time. Denny is employed by the Siemens Corporation and is active in the U.S.A.R. In his spare time he enjoys farming and working with horses and computers. Karen and Denny reside at RR#3, Box IB2, Iowa City, IA 52240.
Karen Kay Pagels, 58, of rural Williamsburg, succumbed to cancer on Friday, October 7th, 2005.
Karen was born in Iowa City, the daughter of Delbert (Jack) & Patsy [Murphy] Albright. She is survived by her husband of 34 years; Dennis Pagels, a daughter; Deena [Kevin] Nelson of Cedar Rapids, a son; Thomas [Alyssa] Pagels of West Branch, and a sister, Lora [David] Phillips of Iowa City.
She left 4 grandchildren: Connie and Brandon Nelson, Trevor and John Pagels, and 2 foster grandchildren: Jeremiah and Nathaniel. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin brothers, and an infant son.
Karen enjoyed quilting, reading and playing cards. She had been active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Iowa, Nebraska, and North Carolina and was a member of Red Hat. Following retirement, the Pagels, former residents of Iowa City and Hills, returned home to Iowa in November of 2004 to be close to family and friends.
Karen’s ancestors were among the early settlers of Iowa County and Johnson County: Albright, Murphy, Hanson, Schwab, Cox, and Haney. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 15th at Uhlmann- Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Compassion for Iowa County in Williamsburg.
