Shirley moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in August 1981. She had just graduated from Kansas State University with honors, to become a registered dietitian. She started working in the Springs at Doctor's Hospital. When Doctor's closed down she went to Penrose-St. Francis Healthcare. She truly enjoyed her time at Penrose. Shirley worked at several nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Springs and Pueblo. Her final job was a job-sharing position with Shirley Hassebrock (R.D.), a true and close friend. Shirley tried to be there for her patients and always give them her professional advice.

She is survived by her loving husband Dr. Rex (Pete) Dunn and her loving sister, Phyllis Haman. Shirley has many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She loved them dearly.
