Richard George Kennedy

January 4, 1947 – April 16, 2024

Richard G. Kennedy, 77 of Buford, Georgia died the 16th of April 2024 in Atlanta due to Parkinson's Disease. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be held at The Episcopal Parish of St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany at 4346 Ridge Rd, Buford, GA 30519 on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at 1:30pm. Visitation with the family will occur from 1:00pm - 1:30pm before the service.

Richard received his BA in accounting from the University of Iowa in June 1969 and graduated from Naval Officers Candidate School in December of 1969. Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 - 1978. He completed two tours in Vietnam. He worked in the accounting field from 1972 to 2010 and was also a licensed certified financial planner. Richard was a skilled woodworker and upon retirement designed and hand crafted the walnut alter, pulpit, baptismal font, and lectern for St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife Cynthia Ellen Kennedy of 55 years; two daughters Elizabeth Kennedy-Aubel of Cartersville, GA and Susan Kennedy of Washington, DC; one granddaughter Cynthia K. Crumpton; one brother David Kennedy; two sisters, Patricia Kennedy McBride and Carol Keenan.
